"The
O'Malley Series" by Dee Henderson is very popular because
it fills a need that many of us have. It is a series about
honest, caring relationships between people and people seeking
a relationship with God.
The O'Malleys are six individuals who were in an orphanage
together, and each of them desperately wanted to be a part
of a family. Their need brought them together, but then it
became more than that. They cared about each other in an extraordinary
way, so they decided to become a family and chose the name
O'Malley.
When they became adults, they legalized this relationship,
but in their hearts they were already a family. Each volume
in the series is about one of the individuals. The Rescuer
is the 6th book in the "O'Malley series."
Stephen O'Malley is a paramedic rescuer. He is the last O'Malley
to settle down, and he is feeling very lonely. He is also
looking for the peace that the other O'Malleys have. He is
like so many others who have heard the Gospel. He knows who
God is and what He asks of each of us, but does not apply
that to his life. For Stephen it is a will. He has yet to
seek the truth in a personal way.
He wants to know that Jesus not only will be a friend but
will always be there for him. His search and response makes
this the richest book in the series. It is an appropiate and
satisfying way to complete the series. But be prepared, the
way is not easy and there is planty of adventure.
