Door Savior by Max Lucado
We thank people who do good things. We worship God who
does great things. Jesus is the One who does God things.
He was not God somewhere up in Heaven, but God Who was as
close as our neighbor, even closer. Now we can talk to Him
at all hours, any time, any place. Max Lucado calls Him
"Next Door Savior". He reminds us that Jesus is
strong enough to trust with anything, yet close enough to
touch. The virgin birth was more than a Christmas account,
it is a picture of how close Christ will come to us. The
first step was in the womb. What He did with Mary, He offers
to us. He gives a Mary-level invitation to all of His children.
To His apostles, Christ said, “I am with you.”
Paul's prayer for the Ephesians was that “Christ may
dwell in your heart through faith.” (1 John 3:34) Those
who obey His commands live in Him. Jesus said, “I stand
at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens
the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with Me.”
(Rev. 3:20) He was with Adam and Eve, Abraham, Moses and the
children of Israel. He is in us when we let Him in through
faith.
There are many things we can't do by ourselves that Christ
can. He lives within us. This not only comforts me but gives
me strength. Max Lucado really touched my heart with this
book.
