Green Pastures
Visitation
On October 13th Chuck and Sue Michel attended the Green Pastures
25th anniversary celebration to learn about this fine organization.
The facility is a home (state licensed) at the end of a cul-de-sac
in a pleasant Mountain View neighborhood surrounded by private homes.
Their house is completely ramped for wheel chair access, as it provides
a Christian home environment for six disabled children ranging in
age from birth to twelve years.
This facility also provides respite care for additional children
on a periodic basis. The staff provides daily care, coordinated
medical treatment, oversees therapy and assists with scholastic
development. Schooling outside the home is available for each child.
With a van specially outfitted to meet the needs of the children,
transportation is provided for Sunday school attendance at various
local churches. Other outings include picnics, camping, children's
theater, family vacation, etc.
Volunteers are involved in many aspects of the home, utilizing individual
talents and knowledge. New volunteers are always needed and welcome.
About 25% of Green Pastures' budget is met by state and county allotments.
The remaining needs are met through gifts of individuals, churches,
and foundations. All gifts are tax deductible.
Union Presbyterian Church gives financial support to Green Pastures.
