End of the Year Banquet
Saturday, May 31, 2008
What an evening. About 65 students sharing, joking, testifying, singing, and leading prayers, thanking God for a great year, & demolishing a large offering from Buca di Beppo.
Saying goodbye is tough! We have prayed & labored with wonderful students these last years, and for 15 of them, it's time for the next step.
Here's the future for a few of them:
- David, MS Mech Engineering & Teaching Fellow at Stanford Design School, will go to Myanmar to work with a non-profit, at considerable risk
- Jonathan, PhD History, will become a Church History prof at Virginia Theological Seminary (Episcopal) Paul, PhD Mechanical Engineering, will be a post-doc in Nanotech at Cal
- Susie, MA Slavic Languages, will work in government intelligence in Washington DC.
- Riku, MS Computer Science, goes to Google/Japan
- James, MS Construction Engineering, returns to the US Navy with likely deployment to Iraq
- and 8 of the students also got their Mr/Mrs degrees this year!
Other vital signs:
- Twenty-two students joined us on May 13 for a “Day of Prayer” and want to have one every quarter.
- More students want to be part of Leadership for the coming year.
- The Christian Law Students did their first public meeting and drew over 50 law students.
- The success of the Francis Collins event has got students excited about another outreach effort.
So, thank you for your prayers, and thanks for your $$ which make this possible, where grad students are finding Christ, growing in faith, and getting vision for Kingdom service. Take a moment, please, to pray for these folks.
Gratefully,
Pete & Maria
